The words malnutrition and undernutrition are what happens to people if they don’t have enough food.
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that about 795 million people of the 7.3 billion people in the world (one out of every nine) were hungry in 2014-2016.
Almost all the hungry people live in developing countries.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word hunger has three meanings;
- the uneasy or painful sensation caused by want of food; craving appetite. Also the exhausted condition caused by want of food
- the want or scarcity of food in a country
- a strong desire or craving
There’s nothing better than fresh food for growing bodies. There’s also very little that brings people together better than making and then sharing a meal with loved ones. It isn’t always possible for some people, but it makes a positive difference when food is made and shared.
